Employer's state id number-
When you are filing your taxes, and entering the employer's state id number it might say warning this number might be incorrect if it is not an 11 digit number. On the form it is not an 11 digit number. The number on the form has worked for a lot of people but if you do have problems with this number, here is an alternative number to use.

Coupons
We accept all coupons! It does not matter whether they are competitors coupons or coupons from a different subway. If people bring in Blimpie or Quiznos coupons, we accept them! We also accept expired coupons. Do not turn customers down because they have an expired coupon.
The only thing we don't do for coupons is if they bring in a free six inch sub coupon without buying anything. In that case, we can't give them the free six inch but we can do a buy one get one free for them.
We also accept cookie survey coupons from other stores. The cookie surveys are benefiting subway as a whole.

Subway POINT CARDS
I talked with Brennon about the point card system because of the confusion a lot of customers have had. There have been many rumors that in a few weeks we will no longer be accepting point cards. This is not true. This year subway is working on changing the point system so points can be used world wide. Right now every dollar a customer spends they receive a point. This system does not work for countries that do not use the American dollar. Therefore they are changing it to be based on sandwiches purchased not on dollars spent. So they are planning on changing the system and when that happens, we no longer will be accepting the old subway cards. When this does happen, we and the customers will be given plenty of notice and a deadline that the old cards need to be used by. Please do not tell customers this until we have that date to avoid confusion.
Right now point cards only go up to 750 points. Once a customer has reached this limit, the card will no longer add points. They must use some points first before they can earn more. So if a customer has 749 points and purchases $20 worth of sandwiches they will only go up to 750 points. A customer may still have over 1000 because this limit recently changed to prepare customers for the switch of subway card systems. So if a customer has over 750 points you might want to let them know no more points will be added until they get below 750.
If you have questions about this, just ask :)
THANKS!!

| The "artist" was sloppy, spilling lettuce, spinach, olives, cucumbers on the counter, then flipping them back onto the paper and back onto the sandwich. I never saw him change his gloves while I stood in line, and several times he touched other surfaces away from the sandwich line. |

Attn Managers and leaders:
First of all congrats to Clinton for doing 83 units tonight in one hr. A productivity of about 18!
I feel like I need to address you about an issue I think you need to work on with your crews. We are actually scheduled heavier then in past years but have been struggling to delivery the same speed of service to the customer. I think alot of the problem is all the new employees we have brought on at all 3 stores these last 6 months or so. We need to get these team members up to speed.
Productivity is measured by how many units (6", footlongs, salads) are done by each employee in each hr. If one person does 12 units by himself in an hr than there was a productivity of 12. If 2 people do 28 subs/units an hr then the productivity for that hr was 14 because they each averaged 14 units that hr. Subway expects you to average 10 most everyday and 12 if you are a busier store. We have done that in the past with ease. Riverdale is more difficult with drive-thru but they can easily do productivity of 8 and 10 if busy. We will give your store a 2 point productivity break for the drive thru which is being generous.
Yesterday productivity and sales numbers were:
Farmington - 8.1 / sales -1911
Clinton - 8.9 / sales - 2570
Riverdale - 6.3 / sales 1749
Today's numbers were:
Farmington - 7.5 / sales 2122
Clinton - 9.7 / sales 3082
Riverdale - 6.5/ sales 1822
I know for both these days we could be 2 points higher at all stores for these sales. That's 2 more subs per person per hr. I know it's possible because you have all done it in the past.
Some of you managers and older employees are working faster and harder then ever and I appreciate that, but we need to get new team members making sandwiches faster and preparing for rushes better and faster.
Here are my suggestions to increase productivity.
1- Focus!. Remind employees to focus on getting faster. Talk to them. 1 unit should take 2 min start to finish. Time them! A productivity of 10 units should only take 20 mins (2mins a units). That means that 40 mins can be spent on prep and cleaning that hr.
2- Review hourly numbers on sales snapshot! More then half the employees I talk to don't know how to look how to look up how many units they did each hr. They should be constantly checking this, announcing it, and knowing what it means so they can gage their speed.
3- Encourage teammembers to ask questions in advance when making subs. Start by asking what kind of bread not sandwich. Ask cheese when cutting bread not after done cutting. Ask is they have a subway card while wrapping sandwich not when right before you tell them total. Sometimes customers are slow. It's your job to speed them along.
4- Tillman!!!! This person should have lobby clean, bread made, bane stocked while ringing up. Clinton you used to rock this! Do not just stand there!!
5- Staying in positions but being flexible in those positions. Assembly line is faster! Riverdale you got to figure out a system. Sometimes people are all over the place because a drive thru. A different person is changing gloves to ring up each separate order. Not efficient.
6- No idle hands! Even those you are in a certain position doesn't mean you can only do that position. Veggie person can slide down to put meats on or cheese or even cut bread while started is grabbing another loaf. Starter can slide to veggies to finish up rush.
7- Communicate! When I see starter leave to go get product from fridge I go crazy!! It stops the whole line! When you are getting low not before you are out communicate with the Till person so they can get you stuff between ringing up.
8- Prepare for rushes faster and better. These new guys just aren't hustling enough at anything they are doing. They need to wipe tables faster, prep faster, dishes way faster! Make sure you have bread before rushes. Should be making bread during lunch and dinner rush unless it's crazy!
9- Get people out early if possible. Many people are staying way past shift not because it's busy, but more so because your crew is slow so you get behind. We should be scheduling a little less as we improve on this
10 - Try to never let a line form. I realize sometimes this is impossible, but you treat each customer as If they are the start of a rush cause they could be. If two people come in get them out as fast as possible so those 2 don't become 4 then 8 then a huge line cause you went so slow of first few people that it stacked up.
11 - Take pride in being fast! Encourage team to become the fastest subway around. Give positive feedback for fast speed and hustle on sandwich making, preps or cleaning
Talk to all your crews. Get emails if need and send this to them or print steps and post. Or review and work with all your new employees.
Let's get back up to speed and shock our customer about how fast and GOOD we can make their sandwiches.
This action is mandatory! I will be following up with you guys, closers and all
Thanks for all you do!
Dave

| A sandwich wasn't prepared the way I ordered it. I ordered a steak and cheese, mayo, lettuce, tomato and a few bell peppers. I received a steak and cheese, no lettuce, a ton of bell peppers and mustard. I really dislike mustard and there was a lot on it. The word mustard wasn't even mentioned during the order. I didn't realize it was wrong until I was almost home. |
